Christian Science Nurse

Christian Science Nursing Assistant

Participates in the Mission and Ministry of Tenacre as an assistant to support Christian Science nurses and guests and maintain the healing atmosphere within a guest setting. This two-weeks course at Tenacre is to prepare for ministering in a Christian Science nursing setting at Tenacre.

Competencies:
• To perform the job successfully, an individual should be progressively demonstrating the competencies outlined in the Basic Qualifications and Competencies for Religiously-qualified Positions at Tenacre and the additional points relating to Christian Science Nursing.

Servant Leadership:
• Supports the camaraderie and unity among all staff ministering within the guest setting; maintains trust and respect for one another’s ministry.

Communication Skills:
• Communicates and responds to others in a non-hierarchal manner with warmth, respect, and patience; maintains confidentiality; acts and speaks in a manner consistent with the highest ethics and integrity; conversation reflects the highest Biblical standard; replies to inquiries and completes requests, both on a timely basis; follows-up appropriately on requests made of others.

Metaphysical
• Ensures that the healing purpose of Christian Science nursing is foremost in thought and is represented throughout all interactions, communications, and activities.
• Brings a metaphysical readiness and maturity to support Christian Science nurses and guests.
• Knows the Church Manual bylaw for the Christian Science nurse and consistently lets it pervade all work.
• Expresses the qualities of a nurse, as stated in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy on page 395.

Specific duties; other duties may be assigned:
• Provides one-to-one support with guests’ activities and study
• Gives simple mobility assistance to guests, including giving wheelchair rides and walking with guests
• Performs other tasks involved with the general care of the Christian Science nursing setting including bed-making and giving mealtime assistance
• Assist guests at group activities such as church services, hymn sings, Social events.

Education and/or Experience
• A high school diploma or equivalent, or is actively working on it.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English.

Senior Director of Philanthropy

The Senior Director of Philanthropy assists the Vice President of Philanthropy with all aspects of department management, unifying, organizing and leading the team with clear communication and inspiration from Christian Science practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Captures and communicates the vision established for Philanthropy by the Vice President
• In-house presence to support the Vice President of Philanthropy
• Oversees philanthropy from ideas to implementation and established relationships
• Directs management of outreach for grants to Christian Science and non-Christian Science entities
• Understands big picture of all Philanthropy activities
• Coordinates and manages communication of ideas for grants
• Connects individuals and activities in the department
• Facilitates team with metaphysical approach to Philanthropy
• Nurtures the staff for developing philanthropic relationships

Specific duties
• Manages Philanthropy staff
• Participates in unfoldment of ideas for grants with Philanthropy staff
• Unifies team through organized meetings and communications
• Attends Philanthropy Committee meetings
• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

• Management experience required

Philanthropy Project Coordinator

Tenacre is looking for a Philanthropy Project Coordinator who will turn to God readily, who works closely with the VP-Philanthropy, is technically-oriented, organized, and will assist with project coordination and administrative tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Metaphysically supports the Philanthropy Ministry on a daily basis
• Works closely with VP-Philanthropy to coordinate and prioritize needs and goals
• Manages operational functions like conference call logistics, travel arrangements, grantee
meeting schedule, support and organization of unfolding ideas
• Keeps information of grant management system up to date
• Assists with communication and logistics coordination
• Responsible for Philanthropy Committee meeting minutes and agenda
• Is ready to receive additional delegated tasks and projects

Qualifications
• Member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist
• Branch Church Membership preferred
• Christian Science Class Instruction required
• Mature in practice of Christian Science
• Professional knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Knowledge of grant management system, preferred

Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor participates in the Mission and Ministry of Tenacre by assisting the Buildings and Grounds Manager by directly supervising maintenance team members and temporary workers. He/she is responsible for keeping Tenacre’s building, facilities, and mechanical equipment functioning 24/7/365 by actively inspecting, testing, maintaining and repairing them.

Essential duties include:
• Actively supervises a team of technical staff on a daily basis in order to respond to routine as well as urgent maintenance issues by prioritizing, delegating and scheduling the inspection and repair of the buildings, facilities and mechanical equipment around property
• Maintains the tools, inventory and equipment required by the Maintenance team; oversees the care, safety, security and upkeep of the Shop and Yard; makes recommendations for the purchasing of tools, supplies, and equipment needed by the Maintenance team
• Assists the Buildings and Grounds Manager in ensuring that the maintenance team is properly educated and aware of Tenacre and departmental employment guidelines, policies and procedures
• Follows proper procedures for submitting purchasing requests within established spending limits
• Respects and maintains the privacy and confidentiality of both Tenacre’s guests and resident staff

Education and/or Experience and Licenses
• High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or technical certificate required
• Minimum of 7 years supervisory experience preferably in direct supervision of construction trade crews or contractors
• Tenacre Ministry of Christian Science Nursing courses 1-4 or comparable experience and classes in Christian Science nursing
• Experience planning, scheduling, and prioritizing daily assignments for teams of 5 or more members
• A state issued driver’s license
• Membership in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, preferred

Property Team Worker

Tenacre is looking for a seasoned, knowledgeable worker to join the team of property overseers. This position encompasses duties from maintaining Meadow Lane’s landscape, grounds, buildings, and mechanical equipment as well as other Tenacre properties.

Competencies:
• Demonstrated ability, at an advanced level, in carpentry and construction and a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC trades
• Demonstrated ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following manager’s instructions
• Ability to teach and train various skills in the carpentry and mechanical trades
• Ability to perform strenuous work, in varying weather conditions, with no physical limitations such as bending, stooping, climbing, and walking

Essential duties include:
• Works daily and directly under the supervision of the Manager, Meadow Lane, to complete work order with a level of quality consistent with the highest standards
• Supervises a team of outside contractors in order to respond to routine as well as urgent issues by prioritizing, delegating and scheduling the inspections and repairs
• Actively works outside in all four seasons and weather conditions to maintain the established landscape and gardens by completing daily horticultural tasks
• Skillfully and safely operates power equipment common to the gardening and landscaping trades
• Maintains tools, machinery and shop in good condition and uses all tools carefully and as instructed

Education and/or Experience and Licenses
• Fluent in speaking and reading English
• High school diploma, general education degree (GED), preferred
• Membership in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, preferred
• Knowledge of small and medium equipment operation and maintenance (tractors, mowers, line trimmers, power tools etc.), preferred
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• A state issued driver’s license

Transportation – Part-time Driver

Tenacre is looking for a part-time driver, who would love to uphold the healing atmosphere at Tenacre and serve others by driving them to and from the airport and to local areas and by doing errands and handling Tenacre mail.

Essential duties include:
• Driving safely in all weather conditions to and from airports and with local area runs to do errands
• Assisting passengers to enter and leave vehicles and loading and unloading luggage and packages up to 50 pounds
• Consistently providing an exemplary customer service experience that graciously converses with people from all over the globe
• Constantly collaborating with the other Tenacre driver and Reception to fulfill requests
• Working flexible hours with some weekend work
• Keeping Tenacre vehicles clean, tidy and fueled
• Sorting and delivering Tenacre mail; keeping Post Office tidy

Education and/or Experience and Licenses
• Member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist
• Demonstrated ability to read and speak English fluently
• A state issued driver’s license is required.
• Commercial Driver’s License, preferred

Part-Time Receptionist

The Part-Time Receptionist serves as an ambassador for Tenacre with a welcoming and gracious
demeanor.

Essential duties include:
• Greets visitors at Tenacre’s reception desk in a professional and pleasant manner
• Uses sound judgement to respond to questions and requests in a timely fashion, and
knows when, and to whom, a decision should be referred
• Assists with mailings and other office tasks
• Performs light bookkeeping and data entry
• Adeptly handles multiple priorities and tasks
• Inputs and accesses data in the reservation system
• Willingly takes on other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience and Licenses
• Membership in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston
• Demonstrated ability to read and speak English fluently
• Consistent positive working relationships with others.
• Proficiency with computers and basic typing skills
• Processing of all reservation requests, changes, and cancellations as assigned
• Accurate and quality focus
• Confidentiality of proprietary information
• Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English
• Exceptional welcoming service to visitors, staff and contractors
• Natural ability to learn and use basic features of accounting and reservations software
